112: Transmission & Drive line Pt.4

Part 4 of the gearbox chronicles and it’s actually all finished ! We had a double lesson on Wednesday so 2 hours plus Reagan and Aeriel were doing most of the work so it got done really quick ! Here we start off with the box back on the transmission jack and in the air as I just connected up the rear gearbox mount…

Here a plate needs to go back on to cover the flywheel…

Luckily I found it !

Now with gearbox bolted to the engine through the bell housing the front engine mount was fitted.

Our rebuilt drive shafts went back in well and then we moved onto the hub assemblies…

Track/Tie rod ends going back on.

Refitting of the gear linkage so that the shifter works again 🙂

Settling the hub on the ball joint and into the suspension strut.

Other side looking good…

Time to transfer the car off the front axle stands and back onto the support beams…

Using wood blocks on the beams is ideal to stop damaging any components underneath.

Looking stable here…

Reagan does some last minute tinkering 😀

Last shot of the wheels going on to finish ! I like the blur trail on this shot 🙂 Stayed a bit late to put someones engine back together, then the technicians son popped in with a screw stuck in their tyre so me and Aerial got that repaired as well !

Well we’ve basically cleared the 2 optional transmission and driveshaft units now. All that is left now is writing up all this work and doing the job cards along with the task sheets…

All I have left to do this year is routine maintenance, but I still got plenty of online exams to revise for along with maths and English ! I should have more freedom in the workshop now so I might be able to put some more interesting jobs soon.
