108: Steering & Suspension

DSCF4075

Looking back at some old work here for the steering and suspension unit. Here is an example of tie rod end and suspension unit removal on the Vectra SRI.

Tie rod ends:

Tie rod coming off….

Steering link disconnected.

DSCF4076

Tie end removed.

Suspension:

Top mount needs to come off, notice the rust on the shock tower… Probably one of the reasons why this car is no longer allowed on the road.

Top mount removed.

Kept the car low at this point just so the suspension unit or anything else did not drop and break…

Need to be aware of where the brake lines go for when this all goes back together.

Some important clips for keeping the brake/abs lines in place.

DSCF4088

Removal of damper to main hub carrier unit.

It’s out !

Now it’s in bits thanks to the spring compressor.
